Zudaji Temple

  • Temples & Shrines
This Shingon Buddhist temple is reportedly the oldest in Hamamatsu. It is located near the Matsushita Residence, a family of retainers under the Imagawa Family, otherwise known as Zudaji Castle. This is also where Lord Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a notable figure that unified Japan, first served as an officer. Naomasa Ii, one of the Tokugawa Shitenno, even spent his early childhood under Naotora Ii’s care (foster home). Visitors can experience tranquil Buddhist workshops, such as Ajikan meditation.
