Lake Hamana Festival: Highlights in May and June

The Lake Hamana Festival is an annual event held in the Lake Hamana area from March to June. Below, we’ll introduce the festival highlights in May and June. The wisteria is in full bloom during a long national holiday called Golden Week in early May. The Wisteria Tunnel, measuring over 100 meters in length, and the evening illumination are must-see attractions. Mid-May until June is the best time to see the Japanese iris and hydrangea flowers. The beautiful color gradation from white to bright purple are uplifting colors during Japan’s rainy season (tsuyu).
