The Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments is the only municipal museum displaying musical instruments in Japan. Hamamatsu is home to instrument manufacturing companies such as Yamaha, Kawai, and Roland. Therefore, the city’s rich musical tradition inspired the construction of this facility. The museum displays around 1,500 items, from Japanese drums and koto (a plucked string instrument) to historic Western instruments. Visitors will surely be entertained since the instruments differ in size and how they are played. Some instruments can even be played, so this is truly a facility for music lovers.
