Hamamatsu in western Shizuoka Prefecture has the longest hours of sunlight in Japan. Every year, numerous flowers blossom in the city’s warm climate and hosts the Lake Hamana Flower Festa to bring beautiful spring flowers to its visitors. The main venues are Hamamatsu Flower Park and Hamanako Garden Park.

Hamamatsu Flower Park is the world’s most beautiful cherry blossom and tulip garden, and is such a gorgeous sight that it’s as if it came straight out of an illustration. The wisteria garden is under the care of Konami Tsukamoto, who was the first to plant wisterias in the park, and is stunning. Come mid-April, 300,000 nemophila flowers bloom in Hamanako Garden Park. Hamanako Garden Park is home to vast land that became the venue for the Hamanako Hanahaku, a flower exposition. From an observation deck in the park, visitors can gaze onto this blue carpet of nemophila flowers and a sweeping view of Lake Hamana beyond.
