“Live Fish Inn Asashio” on the shores of Lake Hamana. An inn where you can enjoy fresh live fish caught in the nearby waters | Arai-cho, Kosai City

“The history of “Asashio” began in the 1960s when my grandfather-in-law, who ran a whitebait processing factory, opened a boat rental company to let as many people as possible enjoy fishing. “I wanted people to eat delicious food, so I began serving them. In the 1975s, after training with my father-in-law, I started an inn business in response to requests from fishing customers who wanted to stay overnight.” Ms. Mizuki Yamada is the young proprietress.

Approximately 40 years after opening, we have continued to operate on the shores of Lake Hamana as an inn where you can enjoy delicious food.

There are a total of 11 guest rooms. This family-run inn with a homey atmosphere has many repeat customers, and is popular as a place where you can enjoy meals with a spectacular view of Lake Hamana. From April 2021, we have started offering reservation-based lunches in completely private rooms.

This month’s recommendation is “Live Fish Inn Asashio”♪

Our special dishes are made from live fish caught in Lake Hamana and nearby waters.

Our special dishes are made from live fish caught in Lake Hamana and nearby waters.

The most appealing thing about Asashio is, of course, the fresh fish.

As the name suggests, this inn is a live fish inn that prides itself on serving dishes made with carefully selected ingredients, with a focus on fresh fish caught from Lake Hamana and the Enshu Sea.

Bonito is popular from spring to summer, blue crab is popular until September, and fried oysters made with oysters farmed in Lake Hamana are popular in winter. The dishes are served with the idea of ”serving hot items while they are still warm, and serving cold items while they are cold”, with a taste that satisfies both the mind and body.

▲Salt-grilled prawns can be enjoyed all year round.

▲Oysters farmed in Lake Hamana are available only during the winter season. Enjoy the seasonal flavors.

Reservation-based lunch will start from April 2021.

After the coronavirus pandemic, we have been open for lunch by reservation since spring 2021.

Since the guest room is used as a dining room, you can enjoy delicious food in a completely private room. Lunch hours are 11:30-14:00.

Why not enjoy a leisurely lunch while enjoying the spectacular view of Lake Hamana right in front of you?

Lunch set meals start from 2,530 yen.

Asashio’s appeal is that you can enjoy lunch in a relaxing private room.

Asashio is the best location

Lake Hamana spreads out in front of you. When you open the window, a pleasant breeze blows in.

All guest rooms face south, giving you a variety of views of Lake Hamana from your room. If the weather is nice, the beautiful sunset will soothe your soul.

A message to readers from young proprietress Ms. Mizuki Yamada

Our inn is an inn where you can feel free to spend your time comfortably and slowly.

We hope you can make fun memories with your friends and family while feeling the breeze of Lake Hamana.

“Asashio” is located between Maisaka-juku and Arai-juku on the Tokaido, and there are many sightseeing spots such as strolling around the fishing town of Maisaka-juku, walking at Bentenjima Seaside Park, and Arai Checkpoint.

From spring to autumn, when the wind is relatively calm, cycling around Lake Hamana may be a great way to remember your trip. In the summer, you can enjoy swimming in the sea, playing on the shore, and fishing.

Run through nature! Trail running recommendations

Are you familiar with the term “trail running”?

Trail running is a type of middle-distance running that involves running in mountains and fields other than on paved roads. In Japan, many people are probably familiar with the names “cross country” and “mountain racing.” Unlike mountain biking and other competitions that use vehicles, trail running has the unique appeal of running through nature on your own. Because you run off-road with ups and downs, you can feel more connected to nature and enjoy the changes in the surrounding scenery than you would with regular running. At a time when various leisure activities are being forced to struggle to prevent infection due to the effects of the new coronavirus, trail running is attracting attention as a way to avoid crowds and have fun.

After doing some research, I learned that Hamamatsu’s running club “Smiley Angel”* has been promoting trail running in Hamamatsu in recent years. Although I had no experience with trail running, I decided to attend a Smiley Angel practice session to experience the new charm of the Hamamatsu/Lake Hamana area.

The secret of honey grown in Kosai City?

Kosai City, where I live, has one of the longest hours of sunshine in the country☀️

In addition to the long sunshine hours, crops grow vigorously, and many flowers bloom around Lake Hamana.

In addition, the mild climate makes it suitable for growing mandarin oranges, and the cultivation of mandarin oranges, a specialty product, is popular in the mountains.

And while these natural things become sources for certain living things, they also turn into rare foods.

That rare food is honey.

It seems that the amount of honey that one bee can collect in its lifetime is less than one teaspoon. When you hear that, honey seems like a rare food!

So this time, I heard that there are people who are keeping bees in Kosai City, and I actually got to experience collecting honey, so I would like to introduce you to the process.

A feast of aged sake and French cuisine. Taste a new project that overturns the common sense of Shizuoka local sake!

In Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu City, there is a 100% natural wine cellar made from a reused unfinished railway tunnel. The entrance to the cellar that suddenly appears in the midst of the great nature of Tenryu has a mystical atmosphere that makes you feel like you have wandered into the world of a story. “Hamamatsu Wine Cellar” is a place only known among wine lovers. .

I heard that a new initiative was being taken at this facility, and on that day I visited it with freelance announcer Minori Konuma, Umi no Lake HAMANA Jenne, Ogawa Ayano, and Okubo Yuna.
