Early in the new year, Jenne lined up in front of the windy Lake Hamana.
I came to Kaikokan, a village where you can experience Imakiri in Arai-cho, Kosai City.
Kaikokan is right in front of the sea, many people are fishing there, and it is in a great location where you can see the Shinkansen and Benten Island.
Some people enjoyed fishing even in winter.
Here at Kaikokan, an oyster shack opens in the winter, and we serve oysters from the famous brand “Primaru” from Arai-cho, Kosai City.
Purimaru is a large oyster with elasticity and flavor that is grown by fishermen in Arai for about a year and a half while moving the oysters around in the brackish water of Lake Hamana.
These oysters have a rich flavor that will make you addicted once you try them, and they can be prepared in a variety of ways.

Among them, the “Hamana Lake Marutoku Set 35”, which is available in limited quantities, is an attractive set full of oysters, including grilled oysters, oyster tempura, oyster rice, and fried oysters.
Lake Hamana Marutoku Set 35
The Hamanako Marutoku Set 35 includes three grilled oysters, but you grill the oysters yourself.
Wearing thick rubber gloves and work gloves, you open the shell to reveal a large, plump oyster.
Haruka Jenne seems to be saying, “I don’t make mistakes.”
Yusa Jenne opens the oyster.
It may seem difficult to bake by yourself, but you don’t have to worry as the staff will give you detailed instructions on how to bake and to the right degree.
If you press the belly in the middle of the oyster and it feels elastic, it’s a sign that it’s cooked.
Flip it over and let it cook a little more in the natural soup.
“Mmm! It’s delicious! It tastes great even without adding anything.” Yusa Jenne looks satisfied.
“Oyster tempura is rare,” says Haruka Jenne.
Saya Jenne recommends the Shinto flounder and oyster tempura bowl, which are also Araicho’s specialty and come with the set.
Ayano Jenne is surprised by the size of the oysters. Everyone seemed very satisfied.
You can also purchase seafood such as small oysters called “Chibimaru” and seaweed at the attached shop.
The number of oysters is limited, so the offer will end as soon as they are gone.
Please come and enjoy Lake Hamana’s winter tradition “Purimaru”.
