Blueberries, a popular bluish-purple, sweet and sour fruit that ripens from early summer to summer, have become popular in recent years due to their delicious taste and ease of eating.

This time, Jenne and her friends visited “Aoi Tori,” a blueberry picking farm located in the Miyakoda district of Kita Ward, Hamamatsu City. After enjoying fresh blueberries at the same garden, we cooled off with some special shaved ice.

Go to the blueberry picking experience farm “Aoitori”

Aoitori, located in the Miyakoda district of Kita Ward, Hamamatsu City, is popular for its blueberry picking experience that runs from late May to early August every year.

The location is approximately 1.5 km southwest of Miyakoda General Park. The landmark is the blue-purple information board installed near the Honda Miyakoda soccer field and farm.

The three people we will be interviewing this time are Anna Jenne, the Wakana Jenne sisters, and Yuki Jenne. The children couldn’t hide their excitement while listening to Mr. Sato, the director of the bluebird zoo.

This is the first time for all three of them to pick blueberries, but it is also the first time for Anna and Wakana to eat raw blueberries.

We proceed to the back of the house while receiving guidance from the director, Mr. Sato.

From the way Wakana Jenne looks back from time to time, you can feel the excitement of picking blueberries for the first time!

All of Aoitori’s blueberries are grown in greenhouses, and as you can see, they are covered with insect-proof netting. With this, you can enjoy it without worrying about insects or birds.

Try blueberry picking!

The farm grows about 600 pots of about 30 varieties of blueberries. The best time to eat blueberries differs depending on the variety, so you can enjoy delicious blueberries anytime during the opening period.

The above photo was taken at Aoi Tori in June. If you look closely, you can see that the shape of the fruit tip is different from the variety photographed during our interview (July).

The blueberries grown in the same garden tend to become large from around early June, and the highbush variety with a good balance of sourness and sweetness is ripe for eating. From around the beginning of July, the less sour rabbit eye flavor becomes the main flavor.

“Pink fruits are not ripe yet, so it’s OK as long as the roots are colored.” “There are delicious fruits around here.”

Wakana Jenne, who was taught this by Mr. Sato, the garden director, gently reached for the fruit and tried her hand at blueberry picking for the first time!

Picking blueberries is very easy. You can easily remove it by just pinching it with your fingertips.

“I can’t believe it’s so easy to get!” “Sister, this is delicious.”

Jenne and her friends loved blueberry picking and moved around the greenhouse, exchanging information about which strains were delicious.

There are three ways to enjoy it

“Now I might be able to spot a goat from a kilometer away,” says Wakana Jenne with a smile.

Yuki Jenne, who has a blueberry tree at home, seemed calm, but she was looking for her favorite fruit from various plants, saying, “I’m looking for my favorite tree and sampling it.”

That’s right, what Jenne Yuki is holding in her left hand is a souvenir cup.

The blueberry picking fee at Aoi Tori includes all-you-can-eat for 30 minutes in the park + one souvenir cup. Until the lid of the cup closes, you can fill it with your favorite blueberries and take it home.

“It’s delicious to have it at home, but since there are so many different kinds here, it’s nice to be able to change the taste,” says Yuki Jenne.

The garden grows many varieties, so it is recommended that you pick them from various plants and eat them. Furthermore, since they are grown in large pots, you can pick them without getting your feet dirty. I’m glad that it’s okay even if it rains because it’s inside a house♪

Jenne also showed me a large fruit in the palm of her hand. This must be delicious!

Come to think of it, I can’t find Anna Jenne, who was enjoying blueberry picking near Wakana Jenne a while ago.

I wonder where you are? When I looked for it, I found someone squatting at a stock market, saying, “I heard the back was recommended.” “It’s delicious here.”

That’s right. I thought the same thing when I picked blueberries with a bluebird several times in the past, but delicious fruits are often grown at the base of the plant or on the other side of the pot where people can’t see them.

Therefore, it is surprisingly easy for small children to take it.

Yeah. The fruit of this strain that Anna Jenne was picking was sweet and delicious.

The renewed shaved ice is full of volume!

After enjoying blueberry picking in the park, Jenne and her friends ordered shaved ice and smoothies. While waiting for our shaved ice, three people showed us their souvenir cups.

They seemed satisfied, saying, “It goes well with yogurt, right?” and “Blueberries are perfect for anti-aging.”

And a few minutes of waiting. Blueberry milk shaved ice has arrived. “Wow…!” Jenne and her friends breathed a sigh of relief as they tried the blueberry milk shaved ice for the first time at the Aoitori.

A sweet and sour original sauce filled with blueberries is topped with condensed milk and three round white balls.

The shaved ice that has been renewed this year (2022) is served in a glass container, and that alone is enough to keep you cool. I’m confused about where to start eating.

We took photos of each and copied them before they melted. “Raw fruit and jam have different tastes!” “They gave me two spoons because the shaved ice is big, but I can eat it all by myself.”

The condensed milk is poured not only on top of the shaved ice, but also during the process of scraping the ice, so it appears from inside as you eat.

Smoothie has a refreshing aftertaste

This smoothie made with plenty of frozen blueberries has a refreshing aftertaste. Anna Jenne and Wakana Jenne also seemed to like it.

Finally, we asked Jenne and her friends their impressions as they held the souvenir cups in front of them.

“It was really fun,” Yuki Jenne said.

“I recommend it for a date!” said Anna Jenne.

Wakana Jenne seemed satisfied with her first blueberry picking and shaved ice experience.
