The “Oyster Hut” is a winter tradition held at Kaikokan, the Imagire Experience Village, starting from December.
This year too, many people came and it was a lively event!
And the fun of “Imagire Experience Village Kaikokan” is not just at the “oyster hut”!
“Eel catching & Kabayaki experience” will be held during Golden Week and summer! ! !
So, this time, I would like to introduce you to the “Eel catching & Kabayaki experience” in preparation for the upcoming Golden Week!
Eel from Lake Hamana is well known nationwide.
In this experience, you can directly experience the nimbleness and slimy feel of eel ◎
Participants must use their dexterity and courage to find the right time to catch the eel!
It’s an experience that everyone from children to adults can enjoy, and it’s sure to be a great memory!
Also, making the caught eel into eel bowl is an experience!
You can experience the whole process from catching fish to tasting them as food by working with veteran staff on skewering, adding sauce, and grilling them with your own hands.
Even if you want to catch it, it’s so slimy that you can’t catch it!
The eel runs away quickly! Can you catch it?
I successfully caught an eel! !
Here, our veteran staff will teach you how to hold it so you can easily catch it.
Once you have caught an eel, the eel will be processed by a craftsman.
Next, a craftsman grills the eel and cuts it into bite-sized pieces.
Then insert a skewer to make a handle.
Inserting the skewers cannot be done in one go!
If you can thread a skewer through it, dip the eel in the secret sauce and put the kabayaki on the grill.
Just the fragrant smell makes my stomach growl!
But I’ll be patient here!
The secret to bringing out the deliciousness of eel is to slow-roast it and marinate it twice or thrice to allow the flavors to fully infuse.
Then, serve it on top of rice to complete the Imagire experience, the Satoumikokan exclusive eel bowl!
It tastes even better if you do it yourself!
You can enjoy a luxurious lunch with a beautiful view of Lake Hamana in the background.
Please come and experience eel catching and kabayaki, which is rare in Japan!

In the Enshu Sea (Pacific Ocean), you can often see boats fishing for whitebait.
This is because the Enshu Sea (Pacific Ocean) is a rich fishing ground for whitebait!
Raw whitebait is delicious, but steamy whitebait fried in a pot is exceptional!
At Imagire Experience Village Kaikokan, you can experience eating freshly fried whitebait ◎
You can loosen raw shirasu in a hot kiln and watch its shape change right before your eyes.
Observe up close how the raw whitebait changes from a translucent appearance to a white whitebait.

Discover the charm of Lake Hamana! Sea and Japan Project in Lake Hamana
The other day, a fishing experience class and a marine trash pickup rally were held at Arai Benten Sea Fishing Park and Arai Benten Beach in Kosai City as part of the “Sea and Japan Project in Lake Hamana”!
This event is held so that parents and children can rediscover the charm of Lake Hamana, which is a familiar place, while participating in various hands-on activities.

Tokaido Symposium Araijuku Conference!
Arai-cho, Kosai City, where I live, is known as a town where you can feel the breath of history.
In particular, Arai-juku, a post town on the Tokaido Road’s 53 Stations, and Arai Barrier, the only surviving barricade building in Japan designated as an Important Cultural Property, are symbols of Arai-machi’s historical charm.
This time, we will introduce the event “The 36th Tokaido Symposium Arai-juku Conference,” in which Arai-cho, Kosai City, took center stage, and the accompanying “History of Arai-cho.”
This event was a valuable opportunity to widely disseminate the historical value of Arai Town and rediscover the charm of the area.
Why not experience the historical side of the town while getting in touch with history?
