[Cycle around Lake Hamana] November is Hamaichi month! (Kosai City Edition)

Autumn is the season for food, reading, and sports!

It’s now a comfortable season to do anything.

A cycling event called “RIDE AROUND HAMANAKO 30 DAYS” will be held around Lake Hamana for the month of November! (This event has already ended.)

This time, we would like to introduce events and cycling spots in Kosai City, focusing on Hamaichi!

What is Hamaichi?

“Hamaichi” is a course that goes around Lake Hamana.

The route is approximately 65km long and allows you to enjoy the scenery along the lakeside and the natural surroundings of the lake and mountains.

*Total length varies depending on the course.

There are many relatively flat and easy-to-ride roads, making it enjoyable for everyone from beginners to veteran cyclists.

This is a course where you can enjoy Lake Hamana’s gourmet food and tourist spots while cycling comfortably.

Hamaichi and Biwaichi...?

Have you heard of “Biwaichi,” which has a similar name to “Hamaichi”?

“Biwaichi” is a cycling course that goes around Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan.

Lake Biwa, surrounded by Shiga Prefecture, is approximately 200km long and is a more challenging course than “Hamaichi”.

You can ride through a variety of terrains while taking in the lakeside scenery, historical sites, and local culture.

Biwaichi is popular among advanced cyclists, and is a course where you can enjoy the rich nature and history while also feeling a sense of accomplishment.

Both courses are attractive routes for cycling enthusiasts, and are visited by many people from all over Japan.

Finally, here are some precautions to take when cycling around Lake Hamana.

The entire course is on public roads, and bicycles are considered light vehicles.

Be aware of pedestrians and other vehicles and follow traffic rules.

When cycling, advance preparation is important.

Be sure to check your bike’s maintenance, such as tire pressure and brake condition, as well as prepare your helmet, gloves, and other necessary gear, clothing, water, and food, and check the weather and any facilities you may need to stop at beforehand to ensure you are in good physical condition.

If you are looking at a smartphone or digital map while driving, be sure to stop in a safe place first.

Right in the middle of Hamamatsu/Yurakugai. “Sumibi Bar Mabuchi” is an Italian bar directly managed by a liquor store that has been in business for 325 years.

After the coronavirus pandemic, Hamamatsu’s restaurants are starting to get crowded again.

There are many tourists and business travelers from outside the prefecture, and there are more opportunities to see people staying near the station heading to restaurants in town with a carry case in hand.

Today, Hamamatsu/Hamanako Daisuki Net will introduce restaurants where you can casually enjoy eating and drinking in Hamamatsu town.

Experience the traditional craft “Hamamatsu Chuzome-some”, which has received the most attention in recent years!

On this day, Jenne came to the Nihashi Dye Factory in Tokiwa-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City. I came here to experience the traditional technique of Hamamatsu chusensome. Have you ever heard of “chusensome”? For those who grew up in Hamamatsu, I want them to imagine the tenugui of the Hamamatsu Festival held every year during Golden Week. Tenugui with kite stamps from each town are dyed using a technique called chusensome.

The characteristic of this chusensome is that it has good breathability. Hamamatsu is a major producer of yukata, accounting for about half of the domestic market. If you have ever worn a Hamamatsu chusensome yukata, you will know that it is very comfortable to wear. It is also hand-washable and can be worn multiple times in one season. Another major feature of the production process is that multiple pieces can be dyed using a single pattern.

It is said that Hamamatsu’s chusensome began in the Taisho era. Hamamatsu, with its strong winds, was probably suitable for producing yukata. After the war, the textile industry flourished, and for a time it became known as the “Itohen Town,” but it declined over time. However, we are conducting this experience with the hope that young people will also learn about this traditional technique that has been passed down to this day.

[2-wheel and 4-wheel vehicle parts exchange event] Lake Hamana Swap Meet vol.23 is being held!

This time, we would like to introduce the Lake Hamana 2&4 Swap Meet, which is held every year around this time of year when preparations for winter begin (late November to early December) and is aimed at two- and four-wheeled vehicles!
