Founded 137 years ago.
Kogiku, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Hamamatsu, reopened two years ago as a factory direct sales store in Kanda-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, with a stylish, modern Japanese atmosphere so that younger generations can easily enjoy Japanese sweets.
The store has been renovated to a “drive-through” style, which is unusual for a confectionery store, and “We have received feedback from regular customers and users alike, such as “It’s convenient to be able to purchase the confectionery you want without having to get out of your car.” says Ms. Iyona Kamei, who is in charge of planning and manufacturing.
After marrying the eldest son of the founding family, Ms. Kamei jumped into the confectionery industry from medical administration. In response to the words of the current president, “I would like to see a breath of fresh air,” the company is working to develop and manufacture new products while preserving tradition.
In this month’s recommendation, we’d like to introduce Kogiku, a confectionery shop that continues to take on new challenges while valuing tradition.
The craftsmen who continue to uphold the tradition of Kogiku are all veterans of this field. Each of them is in charge of confectionery in their specialty and continues to maintain the “delicate flavors that cannot be created by machines.”
“Hand-cut Warabi Mochi” is a traditional confectionery representative of “Kogiku”, which has continued to preserve the traditional taste with a recipe that has not changed since its founding, and is a completely handmade artisan taste. Every year, limited quantities are sold during the hot season.
The Nishiyama store and Ryoke store sell hand-cut warabi mochi by weight, so you can buy as much as you want.
All of the Japanese sweets, including fresh sweets, are handmade by artisans, and each piece is created with great care. The colorful fresh sweets incorporate seasonal trends, and just looking at them makes you feel happy.
These hand-made fresh sweets are rare and only about 100 can be made a day.

It’s definitely “Anko”.
“Anko”, which has received support from many customers, is made by craftsmen who bring out the quality of the ingredients to the fullest by making use of the flavor of azuki beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido, and having a refreshing, mild sweetness.
Skilled craftsmen take time and effort to preserve the traditional flavor of the bean paste, which changes with the seasons. It seems that they have been making this “An” without changing the manufacturing method since the company’s founding.
Kogiku sells many Japanese sweets that would make great souvenirs, including the popular product Sayuri, which lasts for a long time. ” and “Raw Dorayaki” were commercialized two years ago.
▲Raw dorayaki, fresh cream
The standard four types are “fresh cream,” “matcha,” “caramel nuts,” and “chocolate.”
▲Popular Japanese sweets “Sayuri”
In addition to the standard dishes, you can also enjoy seasonal “raw dorayaki” such as “Sakura Mont Blanc” and “Amanatsu” in spring, “Warabimochi” in summer, “Mont Blanc” in autumn, and “Strawberry” and “Tiramisu” in winter. .
The fluffy dorayaki skin is topped with our signature red bean paste and refreshing fresh cream. Please try the freshly made “raw” taste ☆
“Nekodora”, which is made using a custom-made mold, is a new product that was born out of the fact that not only the founding family loves cats, but many of the staff also love cats. You can choose from two types: “Azuki” and “Caramel.”
This cute dorayaki in the shape of a cat has an expiry date of 10 days and is recommended as a gift 😸
The “Okowa” series, made by a long-established Japanese confectionery shop, is on sale for three days each season.
The Summer 2024 series will be on sale for 3 days from July 2nd to 4th. This year, it’s “grilled corn and edamame rice rice.” The Okowa series, which uses no additives and is popular for its exquisite salt content, is a popular product that sells out every year. It will be sold at four stores including the factory direct store, Kasai store, Ryoke store, and Nishiyama store.
In the spring, wild vegetables, in the summer, edamame and corn, and in the fall, chestnuts and other seasonal ingredients will be introduced.
Quantities are limited, so if you’re interested, hurry up ☆
In addition to the seasonal okowa, we have been offering a limited quantity of “Okowa Onigiri Set” at our factory direct store cafe since a year ago, so that you can easily enjoy “Okowa” for lunch on a daily basis.
“Seasonal rice balls🍙”, “soup”, and “today’s small bowl” are included for 680 yen including tax.
We also have great value drink sets and sweets sets.
You can enjoy lunch between 10:00 and 17:00, so please enjoy it in a calm and modern Japanese restaurant.
You can also take out the “Okowa Onigiri Bento” in limited quantities. Recommended for those who want to eat slowly at home.

Two years ago, we renovated our factory direct store, Kanda store.
We have renovated the store with the desire to provide a place that will please our customers while continuing to carry on the traditional sweets that only a long-established store can offer, while also incorporating new things.
We also offer seasonal rice balls that are freshly cooked every morning, as well as shaved ice and anmitsu that are perfect for the hot summer days, so we hope you will visit our cafe space at least once.

[Banana cultivation in the Hamana Lake area!?] Infiltrate a rumored banana farm in Kosai City!
Kosai City is known for its warm climate.
Kosai City grows an abundance of agricultural products such as strawberries and lettuce, which are currently in season.
In Kosai City, a certain fruit that is rare in this area is grown!
It’s actually a banana!
I was surprised to learn that bananas are cultivated in this area!
The bananas are grown in Riki, an area in the northern part of Kosai City.
Riki is a land facing National Route 301 with Lake Hamana right in front of you, with a wonderful view.
I heard that Riki had a banana farm, so I went to see it! !
