Get to Know Hamamatsu

Lake Hamana can be enjoyed not only from the waterside but also from the mountains!

When you think of Lake Hamana as an outing spot, you may think of lakeside leisure, but I would recommend the mountains at Lake Hamana.

A lake but a mountain? You may think so, but there are good mountains.

There are two mountains on the west coast of Lake Hamana, the Kosai Mountain Range, and the Oku-Hamana Nature Trail on the north coast.

There are several reasons to recommend this

①It’s not that expensive!

② Lots of maps and guides!

③Various courses are possible!

④It doesn’t have to be secluded!

①It's not that expensive!

The Kosai Mountain Range is a series of mountains with an altitude of around 400 meters, and the Okuhamana Nature Trail consists of mountains between 400 and 600 meters. All of these can be easily climbed on a day trip, so we see many people who have never climbed a mountain before or who go there to improve their health.

②Lots of maps and guides!

Since both courses involve mountain climbing, it is essential to do some research in advance and carry a map, but there are many information boards on site. It’s really reassuring to have information boards not only at junctions, but also telling you how many meters to go to encourage you when you’re tired.

③Various courses are possible!

For more information, please take a look at each hiking map posted on the website. I think you’ll notice how many trailheads there are and how many routes there are. Even if you aim to reach the top of one mountain, there are several routes you can choose from, and it’s fun just thinking about it in advance.

④It doesn’t have to be secluded!

Both the Kosai Mountain Range and Okuhamana Nature Trail have bus stops and Tenryu Hamanako Railway stations near the trailheads, making them easy to access even if you don’t have a private car. You can also enjoy routes that don’t have the same entrance and exit!

How do you like it?

Being able to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Lake Hamana from above is a privilege for those who have walked the Kosai Mountain Range or the Okuhamana Nature Trail.

When you think of Lake Hamana, you may think of marine leisure, but there are also other attractions of Lake Hamana.

Why not try it out?

[Enjoy the historical romance of Kosai! ]Learn about kimono culture and Sakichi Toyoda tour with Nanaho

The days are getting hotter and hotter, and it feels like summer is coming!

The other day, Arai-cho, Kosai City held its first festival called “Sumiyossama”.

It seems that since ancient times there has been a custom of wearing kimono on this festival day.

Kimono is a symbol of Japanese culture.

Although it is no longer worn on a daily basis, it is still preserved as part of Japanese culture.

There are people who are spreading the Japanese culture and the kimono culture within it in Kosai City.

That person is Yumiho Osakabe (hereinafter referred to as Ms. Osakabe) from the kimono shop “Nanahou” in front of Washizu Station.

This time, I would like to introduce the kimono culture that I learned from Ms. Osakabe and the associated culture of the textile industry in Kosai City.

A night science museum, a journey through the starry sky that fascinates adults

When I entered Hamamatsu Science Museum Miraira after 4pm, there were many people waiting for something. There are no children there. Only adults of all ages were there. Everyone was glancing at the clock or at the reception desk, as if they were looking forward to something.

At 4:30, a science museum staff member came to guide us. I was waiting! Everyone lined up just like that. What on earth is there in a science museum that has so many adults lining up at a time like this?

In fact, the “Night Science Museum” started in July at Hamamatsu Science Museum Miraira. It is a night museum that is open to high school students and above once a month on the third Friday.
