Tokyo Station
Tokyo Station is the gateway to the metropolis of Tokyo. The station building, designed by famous Taisho era architect, Kingo Tatsuno, has an outstanding appearance befitting a capital city (please take a look at the station from the Marunouchi Exit side!). From here you can easily access all of Tokyo's famous sightseeing spots. In Asakusa you can get a feel for Japan's deep history, while in Harajuku you can come into contact with Japan's unique pop culture, and you can fully enjoy the streets of Tokyo until dusk.
Access:
1. Sensoji Temple: Great access! Just 5 minutes on foot from Asakusa Station (subway and train).
2. Harajuku Takeshita Dori Street: Right near JR Harajuku Station.
3. Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo match): Just 1 minute on foot from Ryogoku Station (JR Sobu Line).

1. Sensoji Temple - At Tokyo's largest temple, many people enjoy the sight of the large lantern hanging from the Kaminarimon gate. Lining the approach to the temple is Nakanmise dori, a collection of shops selling food, drinks, and souvenirs. Just walking along this path is a great experience! It's just a 5 minute walk from Asakusa Station, a station served by both subway and train.
2. Harajuku - Harajuku plays a leading role in Japan's fascinating pop culture. In particular, Takeshita dori Street serves as the epicenter of KAWAII culture. The street is lined with unique shops selling miscellaneous goods and novelties, clothing, and sweets just to name just a few! Takeshita dori Street is right near JR Harajuku Station.
3. Ryoguku Kokugikan (Sumo competition) - When you come to Japan, please try watching sumo, Japan's national sport! At Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan, sumo tournaments are held in January, May and September. Also, on the stadium's first floor, there's a Sumo Museum where visitors can learn more about the sport. Ryogoku Kokugikan is 1 minute on foot from Ryogoku Station (JR Sobu Line).

Tokyo Station
Tokyo Station, which underwent repairs in 2012 to restore its original appearance, is best seen from the Marunouchi Exit side. Many of the neighboring buildings have roof-top observation areas. Try taking a look at the station from high above if you have time before getting on the shinkansen.
Access: For those riding the shinkansen, using Tokyo Station's Yaesu Entrance is most convenient.
