Beginners and kids, regardless of age! The charm of “windsurfing”, a marine sport that can be enjoyed all year round at Lake Hamana ♡

What do you mean by “Autumn of ◯◯”?

There are many ways to enjoy autumn, such as reading, appetite, sports, and art.

Under such circumstances, this time we will introduce one of the marine sports that can be enjoyed even in autumn at Lake Hamana.

Introducing “windsurfing”.

Introducing "windsurfing".

Windsurfing can be enjoyed throughout the year,

There is a beach in Hamamatsu City that is known as the mecca for windsurfing!

That is Murakushi Beach, located along the shore of Lake Hamana in Nishi Ward, Hamamatsu City.

The area is famous nationwide for its calm waves and year-round winds suitable for windsurfing.

By the way, do you know about windsurfing?

Usually when you think of surfing, you mean riding waves (duh?)

Windsurfing is like that!

As the name suggests, you can use the wind to run on the sea! That’s what it feels like.

It’s an attractive marine sport that even beginners can enjoy, yet it’s so deep that you’ll want to keep doing it.

Would you like to run on the sea in the pleasant autumn breeze?

I will report on my first attempt, so please use it as a reference.

Mr. Yamamoto from WIND VILLAGE helped me with this experience.

Mr. Yamamoto is from Hamamatsu City and is also a professional windsurfer.

Of course, we will teach you according to your level, from kids to beginners to professionals.

Flow of experience

10:30 Reception & start

Parking is available in front of the building.

There are changing rooms, but it will be smoother if you put on your swimsuit beforehand.

①Classroom lecture

It will tell you the principles behind the process, but it’s okay if you don’t understand.

There is a video.

② Change of clothes

Rental of wetsuits and life jackets is included in the trial lesson fee.

Make a reservation in advance.

③ Practical skills on land

Which direction is the wind blowing from? When asked, “That way?” I pointed…

I couldn’t help but laugh as I couldn’t answer the questions in terms of north, south, east and west.

Mr. Yamamoto, who seems to be used to it, will give you detailed instructions.

④ Get into the sea and practice

It’s a sturdy board with great stability, so it’s easy to stand on.

Raising the sail is quite hard work.

Put all your strength into your hips and slowly let the seawater flow over the sail as you stand it up.

Grasp the pole of the sail and stand with your body and pole forming a V shape.

Mr. Yamamoto’s model is a beautiful V shape (it’s different from mine)

If you turn your head in the direction of travel and change the angle so that the wind hits the sail, you will continue to advance.

Changing the amount of wind will make it go faster or slow down.

The principle is…well…

Whether it’s easy or not is another matter .

I fell down and dived into the sea many times, but

It feels great to be able to ride the wind even just a little bit.

It was so much fun that no matter how many times I fell down, I would jump on it and the hour would pass quickly.

⑤ Shower change & general review

At the end, they will tell you what they learned from this experience and what they faced.

It teaches you things in a way that you can see them in writing, so it makes you want to continue to be able to do them.

What I felt through the experience was just so interesting!

I was smiling the entire time when I looked at the photos! !

Other information

I started doing marine sports when I was in my teens and 20s, but that was a long time ago (lol).

I was able to realize the charm of marine sports once again.

This is a completely personal opinion, but I feel that soaking in seawater cleanses both the mind and body.

I feel like my stress just goes away when I’m near the ocean.

By the way, Lake Hamana is a brackish water lake, so of course it has seawater.

On the day of the experience, it was quite salty.

The experience I had this time was a half-day experience, but there is also a full-day experience.

Furthermore, if you become a member, you can also attend school.

For this experience, we borrowed a set of tools, but you can also purchase tools if you want to continue.

However, don’t you think it would be difficult to get new items and transport them?

At the pro shop WINDS171, which is affiliated with WIND VILLAGE here on Murakushi Kaigan,

We sell new and used tools, and you can also leave your own tools with us.

(*Charges apply)

It seems that there are many people who come from outside the prefecture and leave their tools with them.

Also, on an irregular basis, Mr. Yamamoto’s wife runs the WIND VILLAGE Cafe in front of the building.

Since it is also an agricultural area, you can also buy fresh vegetables grown in the fields.

I had Molokheiya, which I love, so I bought it at a bargain price (very cheap!).

What we should be particular about is “coffee!” What’s so delicious about it?

They use coffee beans grown by Mr. Yamamoto’s parents, and you can feel their commitment to the coffee.

Parents who are professionals are also professionals in different fields!

Just drinking coffee while looking out at the beautiful coastline is worth the experience.

As a reminder, the cafe and vegetable sales are irregular.

One of its characteristics is that there are many regulars, and even though it was my first time here, they welcomed me with a homely atmosphere.

One of our regular customers is a good singer.

He took his guitar out of the car and sang two songs.

It makes me feel so warm.

In the evening, you can also see such a beautiful sunset.

How about some fall sports?

Sea Lake Report: Walking the Himekaido Road, Kiga-Mikkabi Edition

I decided to walk down Honsaka-dori (commonly known as Hime-kaido), which has been a side street of the Tokaido since ancient times and has been visited by many travelers.

Last time, I walked from the Amma starting point in Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu City to Kiga-shuku in Hamana Ward.

This time, I would like to continue walking from Kiga-juku to Mikkabi-juku.

The atmosphere is different from the section I walked last time, with cobblestone streets and historic sites scattered throughout.

This is a journey where you can feel the vestiges of the past, when many travelers came and went.

I walked around feeling like a person from the past, so I’ll tell you what it was like.

Developing a school bag that protects against flooding! Sakae Shokai Co., Ltd., which handles eyeglass cases and other eyeglass products

Sakae Shokai Co., Ltd., founded in 1948, mainly deals in original eyeglass-related products such as eyeglass cases and eyeglass cloths.

One product worth noting among Sakae Shokai’s products is the floating school bag “Ukuran®.”

Based on a request from people who were saddened by the Great East Japan Earthquake to “develop a school bag that would protect children from flooding,” the company began developing the school bag with the belief that “as a company that deals with textiles, there is nothing we can’t do.”

It took about four years to complete “Ukran®.”

This month’s recommendation is Sakae Shokai Co., Ltd., located in Kamitate-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City.

Try your hand at dyeing with plants at Manyo-no-Mori Park! Let’s make one just for you

At Manyo-no-Mori Park in Hamakita Ward, a Manyo plant dyeing experience is held four times a year (approximately once every three months).

At the Kibe Kibe workshop located within the park, you can enjoy itajime and tie-dyeing using plants that appear in the Manyoshu, such as safflower, indigo, and madder.

This time we will introduce silk chiffon dyeing using the leaves of Asebi Asebi. We took on the challenge of making an original stole using three types of mordant while learning from Mr. Miki from the machine workshop!

The experience time is approximately 2 hours. Even those who are new to vegetable dyeing can easily participate.
