At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika on the outskirts of Hamamatsu City, 3 million illumination lights decorate the park every day as winter approaches.
The highlights are the light tunnel and the fountain illumination show, one of the largest fountain shows in Japan!
Besides that, there is light everywhere.
This time, we will fully introduce the charm of Fruit Park’s illuminations with many photos.
At Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika on the outskirts of Hamamatsu City, the park is decorated with illuminations from late October every year.
The number of lights used is a whopping 3 million! This is the largest illumination in the western area of Shizuoka Prefecture. As you can see, the entrance gate has a calm atmosphere, but once you step into the park, you enter a world of light.
You will be greeted by the Illu Museum featuring exhibits from local businesses and organizations.
This year’s theme is SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). There are also works using plastic bottle caps, so be sure to look for them.
Beyond the moon, Fruit Park’s symbol tree, the Kusu tree, is also decorated with illuminations. There are rabbits enjoying tent camping under the tree.
The illumination event will be held on the south side of the west area. You can walk around the area around the tropical fruit greenhouse, food court, fountain pond, etc.
The recommended route in the information leaflet you receive when you enter the park is to go down the grand staircase of lights heading towards the tropical fruit greenhouse, and then go around clockwise.
Are you the first to go down the stairs or the last to go up?
After some hesitation, I proceeded through the light tunnel at the back of the illumination area.
The tunnel of light is very popular every year!
The yellow-based illumination alone is nice enough, but this year, colorful star-shaped balloons are added to give it a more pop-like look.
The gentle curves create a more dreamlike and heart-pounding space.
The length of the tunnel is 130 meters, 10 meters longer than last year.
Beads of light not only on the left and right, but also above your head. Its dazzling sparkle is just like stardust!
I want to be surrounded by light forever. It’s no wonder that some people feel that way.
As you walk through the tunnel of light, a heart-shaped arch will appear on your left where you can enjoy changing colors. This arch is a shortcut to the pizza factory mentioned later.
At the end of the tunnel of light, there are cute animal objects lined up.
In front of you are small animals such as rabbits and squirrels, as well as dogs, pandas, and penguins. Large animals such as bears and giraffes are placed in the back.
There were also people taking commemorative photos while sitting on benches along the aisle.
A little further ahead is an object depicting a reindeer pulling a sled. You can sit inside the sled.
If you’re not sure whether to sit with the reindeer in the front or the reindeer in the back, sit on both!
The glittering pink heart-shaped object is located near the gate of the fountain show/fountain illumination show venue.
There is a gap between the heart-shaped object and the fence, so if you come around from the back, you can stand right in the middle of the heart-shaped object.
Of course, you can also take pictures while standing in front of the object!
This is not the only illumination at Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika. Fountain illumination shows are held six times a day at the fountain area within the paid venue.
The fountain illumination show starts at 17:30 / 18:00 / 18:30 / 19:00 / 19:30 / 20:15.
You can enjoy Japan’s largest fountain laser show for about 10 minutes each time.
The trapezoid-shaped fountain pond measures approximately 20 to 65 meters on the short side and approximately 100 meters on the long side.
From the gentle S-shaped curve drawn using the shape of the fountain pond, it is sometimes violent and other times elegant. The fountain changes its appearance in accordance with the sound flowing through the venue, is covered in light, and impresses the people who watch it.
water, light and sound. Please enjoy the fantastic world created by these!
The fountain illumination show venue is almost the turning point in the illumination area of the park.
If you proceed from the tunnel of light, you will be heading towards the Grand Staircase of Light.
The stream that runs along the path in front of the garage area is also one of the highlights of the fruit park illumination.
This is called Nanasai Ogawa, and as the name suggests, it is lined with small fountains colored with seven colors of light. Please enjoy the appearance of the fountain and the changing colors.
The path between the garage area and Nanasai Ogawa is Rainbow Street. It shone and was surrounded by soft light.
The garage is the building at the back of the screen. This is a lodging facility, so it’s popular with people who want to enjoy the illuminations to the fullest without worrying about how long it will take to get home.

Once you’ve come this far, the next step is the Grand Staircase of Light. Just thinking about going up here got me excited.
I climbed the stairs, surprised by the brightness, and this is the view I looked back at on the way.
In front, slightly to the right, is the restaurant Perle. On the left is a tropical wine cave and a tropical fruit greenhouse. The greenhouse is decorated with illuminations both inside and outside.
The tropical fruit greenhouse can be accessed from inside the Tropical Wine Cave, so if you have time, please take a look there as well.
There’s only a little more left to climb the Grand Staircase of Light. If you don’t want to leave behind anything, feel free to come back as many times as you like!
At the top of the Grand Staircase of Lights, there is a pizza factory and a tropical wine cave.
If you want to eat something while watching the illuminations, please visit the pizza workshop where you can enjoy authentic oven-baked pizza. In addition to pizza, you can also enjoy pasta.
Inside the store or on the open terrace. Enjoy it while feeling the illumination!
*Business hours…until 19:30 (L.O. at 19:00)
If you want to buy wine unique to Fruit Park, head to Tropical Wine Cave. We sell red and white wines brewed within the park.
Among them, the red wine “Hokuto no Shizuku 2019”, which is brewed in the garden and is made using 100% of the wine variety “Hokuto no Shizuku” developed in Yamanashi Prefecture, is a secretly popular item.
In addition, the handmade workshop located at the entrance to the illumination area sells Tokinosu original products and sausages, as well as fruits grown within the park.
This is not the only illumination at Hamamatsu Fruit Park Tokinosumika. There’s so much fun and excitement that I can’t even introduce it here!
The YouTube channel “Jenne Channel” is introducing glamping experiences in the park ▼

As for how to access the Fruit Park, if you are driving, it is about 5 minutes on the general road from the Shin-Tomei Expressway “Hamamatsu SA Smart IC”. By train, it is about an 8-minute walk from Fruit Park Station on the Tenryu Hamanako Railway.
Enjoy fruit harvesting experiences and activities during the day, and illuminations at night.
I’m so excited. Why not experience the extraordinary at Fruit Park’s illuminations this winter?

A drop of nature grown in Hamamatsu Tenryu Forest. “Kuromoji tea” made from trees
This year too, the delicious treasure grown in the forest, “Kicoro forest scented tea,” will be coming to town.
It is Kuromoji tea from Tenryu Forest, which was created with the idea of being an “entrance to get people interested in the forest,” and is harvested only once a year in early spring.
I first encountered this tea four years ago. At a cafe in Tenryu Ward, a friend recommended it to me and said, “This Kuromoji tea is delicious. It’s made from wood.” When I asked her, “What is a tree? You mean the leaves on that tree?”, she answered that they were not actually leaves. When we think of tea, we think of green tea or herbal tea, which is made from soft materials such as leaves and flower petals. So when I was told that it was made from wood, I couldn’t imagine it.
What arrived on the table was a gentle pink tea with a very nice aroma that overturned the image of “wood”.
You may not be familiar with the “Kuromoji” tree, but you might know it as a sweet toothpick used to cut up Japanese sweets and bring them to your mouth.
Nowadays, many of them are made of plastic or other wood, but they were originally made from the Kuromoji tree, which has a pleasant aroma and antibacterial properties. It is well known that when Sen no Rikyu, a famous tea master, made tea for Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, he offered them a freshly shaved fragrant toothpick from a branch of the Kuromoji tree in his garden. The scent of Kuromoji may have soothed the spirits of war-torn military commanders.
Japanese sweets and Kuromoji cutting sweets
Kuromoji is said to be an aromatic native to Japan, and its refreshing yet sweet scent is said to have antiviral and relaxing effects. It is said that it is also included in Chanel No. 5, and it is a tree that is like the savior of today’s times.
Kuromoji has been drunk for treatment and health since ancient times. A herbal medicine called Usho is made from the leaves and branches, and it is also brewed and drunk as a health tea. So, what is the difference between Tenryu no Mori’s Kuromoji tea and the health teas that have been drunk up until now?
The person who makes Tenryu Forest’s Kuromoji tea is Mr. Takeshi Maeda, who works as a “visible woodcutter” to connect the mountains and the city. Even though I don’t like the outdoors or the rain, I was selfish because I wanted to see the black moji tree. Then, on a rainy day at the start of the rainy season, Mr. Maeda showed me around Kikoro Forest in Tenryu.

Developing a school bag that protects against flooding! Sakae Shokai Co., Ltd., which handles eyeglass cases and other eyeglass products
Sakae Shokai Co., Ltd., founded in 1948, mainly deals in original eyeglass-related products such as eyeglass cases and eyeglass cloths.
One product worth noting among Sakae Shokai’s products is the floating school bag “Ukuran®.”
Based on a request from people who were saddened by the Great East Japan Earthquake to “develop a school bag that would protect children from flooding,” the company began developing the school bag with the belief that “as a company that deals with textiles, there is nothing we can’t do.”
It took about four years to complete “Ukran®.”
This month’s recommendation is Sakae Shokai Co., Ltd., located in Kamitate-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City.
