Japan’s rainy season, called “tsuyu,” typically lasts from June to mid-July. There are few days with sunny skies, and the mood is gloomy during this time of year. However, hydrangeas and Japanese irises are flowers that brighten up the rainy season. At Hamamatsu Flower Park, where these two blooms have been cultivated for generations, you can find gorgeous flowers! Japanese irises are mainly white to purple, while hydrangeas have a reddish-purple to a blue hue. Of course, the flowers are stunning when it’s sunny outside. But flower petals wet with dew have a unique appeal, too! Be sure to give the park a visit!
