Events
Mid to Late May
Shibukawa azaleas, also known as rhododendron sanctum, are characterized by three-petaled leaves and three flowers on each stem. This rare plant only grows in abundance in serpentine soils and within a narrow range. As a result, the community of 4,000 wild grown azaleas in the park’s garden are natural monuments designated at the prefectural level. This festival, held to coincide with the blooming of the Shibukawa azaleas, are expected to host stage events during the weekends. As Shibukawa Tsutsuji Park is located on a small mountain, be sure to wear clothing that is easy to move in.
